PPT-LAX. Seats are old-style, in 2-2-2 arrangement, and are rather oddly positioned. They are fairly comfortable for both sitting though tall people will find the flip-down footrest to be an impediment. The problem is that the seat pitch is inadequate, which results in your being practically trapped in your seat once the person in front reclines theirs. Their head gets so close that your legs vanish under their seat back and you cannot move your tray table into the eating position. And of course once you recline yours, you do the same to the person behind. It is just about possible for the person in the aisle seat to climb out without disturbing the person in front but if the person in the window seat wants to get out, they literally have to climb over both people in front and the one alongside them. Not impressed.

There are two experiences when flying to and from Papeete from LAX. The first one is far superior with very good food, fairly modern craft, well organized flight crew. The return flight is often done on older craft, the meal service adequate at best, and everything managed by a crew who, while not hostile, weren't too careful about their job. I suppose much of this can be rationalized by the fact that the cost is one third of a comparable class to Europe. Even so, the airport lounge at Papeete has all the charm of a bus depot in Middle America with almost no food available.
